Space MONTAGU SPRINGS: A HAVEN FOR ALL SEASONS

Josmont Heights Space The Keisie River

Montagu Springs Holiday Resort can best be described as an oasis at the gateway to the Little Karoo. The Resort is located between two mountain ranges and boasts crystal clear air, away from all pollution. It is strategically positioned on the scenic drive between the Garden Route area and Cape Town. The approach to Montagu from Ashton, through Cogman's Kloof, is awesome.

It is ideally situated weather wise - south enough to avoid the heat of the Karoo and north enough to avoid the long, wet Cape winters. It is truly a haven for all seasons. In winter, the days are warm and sunny and rainfall is virtually unknown. In spring, the Resort is transformed into a kaleidoscope of greens and browns, as the adjacent peach and plum trees bloom in their freshness. In October, the bougainvillaea and roses are at their best.

The gardens and vegetation at the Resort resemble a tropical oasis. From the palm-lined entrance, cacti gardens, large variety of roses which are prolific throughout the park, there is something that will appeal to everyone.

The village of Montagu, itself, has become a very famous tourist attraction. Established in the mid-nineteenth century, the town is famous for its well-preserved Cape Dutch and Georgian National Monuments. Two museums give one a peek into the days gone by and the beautifully restored Joubert House (the oldest local dwelling) has a unique herb garden, cultivating most of the healing plants available in the local hills.

The residents make up a rich variety of people - builders, hoteliers, a cabinetmaker, a cheesemaker, a teddy bear maker, restauranteurs and artists - in a population of less than 10,000. The village also boasts some twenty eating establishments, which offer the best of South African cuisine, as well as wines from the area.

All staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, displaying country hospitality, and a warm welcome awaits you, right down to the little vase of flowers in your chalet.

Montagu Springs is extremely well organised, spotless and very well maintained. If you are wanting to go to a self-catering, affordable resort, within two hours drive from Cape Town and you feel the need to get closer to nature, peace and tranquillity, Montagu Springs is the perfect break from city life.
